The Women’s Golf Nowra Club Championships have been contested over four rounds during the past two weeks in three divisions. The weather conditions were very favourable throughout and our picturesque course beautifully presented and a credit to Superintendent, Louis and his staff Matt and Alex.

Thank you to our major sponsors Bridges Financial Services and Colleen Campbell and also club members for their generous support.

The final round was played today (25th October) in stunning conditions and the three divisions hotly contested.

Division 1

The final result in the Division 1 Championship was decided by a three hole play-off when Jill Levi and Peta Merchant were tied after today’s round. Peta, who had a two shot lead after the first three rounds, was unable to capitalise and Jill nudged in by winning by two shots today to make the score even at 370.

In the play-off, Jill played steadily to claim the first hole 5 – 6 and then fortunes were reversed on the second when Peta showed determination to win with a par to Jill’s 6. It was anyone’s game on the final play-off hole which saw Peta experience a bit of bad luck, landing her shot against a pine cone. With the danger of moving the ball by removal of the obstruction, Peta had to hit both  objects, producing an unfavourable result. Now with the advantage, Jill put the straps on to win the hole 5 – 7 and the Championship with a Scratch score 0f 370 on a countback.

Congratulations to both Jill and Peta for a well played contest.

The Nett winner was Jill Levi 302 and Nett Runner Up Jenny Brown with 305. A great effort Jenny.
