Todays’s Single Stableford event provided the qualifying round for the Maureen Knaggs Super Six Knockout which will be played next Thursday, 20th September. Twenty four ladies participated in this preliminary round with all vying to make the “cut” which was the first 16 places. The contest was tight and with the greens having been newly renovated and therefore still a little sandy, it really came down to who could handle the variable putting surface.
Peta Merchant came in with a creditable 34 points to take out top spot in Division 1 with Angela Boadle close on her heels in second place with 31 points. In Division 2 Linda Trusler dominated to take out first place with 39 points, which was the best score over the 3 divisions. Maree McLean managed a fine 35 points for the second spot. Division 3 saw Ellen Ryan and Anne Newton take the honours with 34 and 33 respectively.
The Long Drive on the 14th was won by Jenny Brown in Division 1, Robyn Moore Division 2 and Ellen Ryan in Division 3. Drive and Pitch on the 12th was taken out by Jill Levi in Division 1 and Lyn Hatchman in Division 2. There was no result for Division 3.
We thank Maureen Knaggs for generously sponsoring next week’s Super Six Knockout. The best 16 scores from today’s event will contest a Stableford Match Play round over six holes . The winners of that 6 holes will play again over the next six holes and so on until there are two players remaining. These finalists will play a final 3 holes to decide the winner. There is also a plate event so those who missed “the cut” will play a Stableford competition. Those eliminated from the Super Six after each 6 holes can continue to play in the Plate Event. It should be lots of fun.
Good luck!!
