Only 19 dedicated ladies braved the threatening clouds and early drizzle to tough it out to contest the July GNSW and WGN Monthly Medals. There were others who believed the forceast which indicated rain for the day but at worst only one light shower eventuated. In fact the conditions were quite perfect for golf – a very mild temperature, cloudy with no wind.

While the fairways were damp underfoot, providing little run, the greens certainly weren’t slow and speed accuracy was the order of the day in the putting competition stakes.

While the results in all three divisions came down to the wire between the winners and the runners up, the final scores were fairly average which reflected the hard going on the fairways and in the rough.

The Division 1 competition was decided on a count back with Sue Beazley being victorious in managing to squeeze Jill Levi into the second spot. Both scored a 74 nett but Jill was superior in the scratch competition with 91 off the stick to Sue’s 92. This indeed was a tight battle all round.

In Division 2 Linda Trusler came up trumps in both the nett and scratch categories. Linda had a neat 76 nett and 102 off the stick which pushed Robyn Moore into the second position with her scores of 78 nett and 103 scratch.

Di Pritchard found her form to win Division 3 scraping in with 79 nett ahead of Margaret Ford who recorded an 80 nett. The scratch competition in this division was taken out by Anne Newton who won on a count back from Di with 114 off the stick.
