Twenty eight ladies paired up to contest the annual Foursomes Championships in cold blustery conditions on Thursday. The event was keenly contested and the results were very close in all categories.
The Foursomes Champions were Cathy Ison and Linda Weatherill, playing off a handicap of 19. They won with a four stroke margin ahead of the runners-up Sandra England and Sue Hunter with a handicap of 18.5. The final result was 197 to 201. Cathy and Linda both reported that they were extremely excited to win this event at last, having been the bridesmaids on many previous occasions. Both thanked their playing partners Michele Carey and Ricky Gilligan for keeping them on track throughout the day.
In the 36 Holes Nett event, Sue Davies and Ellen Ryan prevailed with a two shot advantage over Fay Wright and Val Wilson the scores being 157 to 159.
The other results were:
1st 18 Holes Nett – Winners Sue Stephens and Patricia Austin (76); Runners-Up Di Pritchard and Marj Burns(80).
2nd 18 Holes Nett Winners – Sandra Rigney and Anne Newton; Runners-Up Maree McLean and Lyn Hatchman.
We should all be in good form for next week when we will contest the June GNSW and WGN Monthly Medals.
