Ellen Ryan was able to order perfect weather for her sponsorship event of a 2BBB Stableford and the morning began with an early shotgun start with everyone as “keen as mustard” to get down to business. The lazy, icy breeze kept everyone moving and a sunny spot anywhere was the preferred place to be. Before too long the clouds were burnt away, presenting the course with some warming and comforting sunshine in which to enjoy the team event.

It was a battle in the trenches around the greens again today in trying to negotiate an approach shot but having a partner took a bit of the pressure off in many an instance. However, in most cases the trenches won and an extra shot was necessary to get onto the green.

Everyone loves a team event and needless to say the competition was hot. There were some very strong team combinations out on the course and it was a fight to the end with final results being decided on a count back in three places.

The victory was a family affair and a combination of experience and youth in Nancye Massingham and Robyn Moore. There were no family arguments between this pair as they applied their skills and tactics to put in a strong performance to  claim the win with 41 points on a count back.

Trish Austin and Linda Trusler also proved to be a formidable pairing and fought hard but had to be satisfied with second place on a count back from Lyn Hatchman and Maree McLean who also played strongly to score 41 points.

Ball Competition

39 points – Di Pritchard and Jill Downie

38 points – Wendy Phillips and Val Wilson; Colleen Lymbery and Joyce Wallace; Sandra England and Angela Boadle.

It was wonderful to see Jeanette Bright back again for a visit. Chauffeur, Jill Levi wasn’t offering any free rides today however and she put Jeanette to work marking the team card for Jill and Dot McManus. We are all very pleased to see Jeanette looking well and sprightly.

Next week it will be Spring and we look forward to some warmer mornings. We start off the new season with the final round of the GNSW Medal.
