It was certainly a beautiful day for a walk in the park. A very crisp autumn morning hailed the imminence of the Easter weekend but it wasn’t long before the sun gathered her strength to help warm up the muscles and joints to enable the competitors to settle into a very relaxing game. The course as usual was stunning in the early sunshine and the river had returned to a little of its sparkling self, reflecting the beauty of the surrounding scenery.
Despite the fact that it was “April Fools Day”, there were some very impressive performances in the field of 24 and it seems that the ladies are settling well into playing the composite wet weather course. Hopefully we can be back to our full course before to long.
We were all rewarded for our efforts with a surprise visit from the Easter Bunny or Bilby who left a basket of delicious Easter eggs.
Lyn Hatton stepped up to play in Division 1 today following a strong performance in the Veterans competition on Tuesday when she lost a full shot. She accounted herself more than adequately on her new handicap to comfortably claim the honours in Division 1 with the best score of the day of 38 points. Sue Beazley came back strongly again this week and handed in a tidy 35 points on her card to take out the runner’s up position.
In Division 2, a delighted Sandra Rigney made a great comeback from her surgery rehabilitation with a courageous round and recorded a creditable 31 points to snatch the victory with 31 points. Ellen Ryan came second with a close margin of 30 points.
All the time spent in practice is standing Kirsten Themsen in good stead. She can be seen on the course most days of the week and her diligence paid off again today with a solid game. She claimed the top spot in Division 3 with 30 points on a count back. Margaret Ford also played steadily but was nudged into the second position with 30 points.
