It was back to the serious side of competition today with the first Par event and the start of the Eclectic competition and Seasons Events which run until November in single games.

The mowers were going “like the clappers” this morning as the boy’s from the “Greenkeepers’ Lodge” were flat out controlling the flourishing fairways and roughs in an attempt to make it easier for the girls taking on this challenging game – THE DREADED PAR. However, some very wise words were to be heard from an experienced player who offered this advice. Think of a Par game as an opportunity because it actually enables you to see where the weaknesses in your game are and therefore the chance to work on those problem areas.

There were no complaints about the weather conditions today. Beautiful azure skies and brilliant sunshine were easy to put up with and the risk of very warm conditions were tempered by a gentle breeze wafting in from the sparkling Shoalhaven River.

However, the course played tough and was the winner on this occasion. While the scores weren’t brilliant, they could be described as generally reasonable, however no player was able to clock up a plus score. In Division 1, Robyn Moore put in the most impressive performance of the day, coming in square to the card. Her playing group which included Leanne Robson and Lyn Ashton, sounded like they were out for some fun from the outset when one first tee shot (no names mentioned) landed in the little garden at the first tee.  Complete hilarity ensued and continued for the duration. Well done Robyn to hold onto your concentration!

Hot on Robyn’s heels in Division 1 was Sue Beazley who played a steady game to record minus one. Good effort Sue for your first Thursday game this year.

Colleen Lymbery made a comeback to Thursday singles play with a bang to take out the top spot in Division 2 with minus one and Lyn Hatton managed to claim the runner’s up position with minus six.

Margaret Ford just keeps on keeping on and again put in a measured performance scoring minus one to come out on top in Division 3 and Donna Hewat was in the winners’ circle again claiming second place honours with minus five.
