Our closing day event was a 3BBB, Three Clubs and a Putter game. On completion of this game we always wonder why on earth we push 14 clubs around the course every week when we seem to do just as well without most of them! Choosing the club necessary for each shot is much quicker and the end result is pretty much the same.
We started out dressed in our Christmas finery which, sadly, only lasted a few holes before we covered everything up with wet weather gear. The rain became steadier and the ladies got wetter and after nine holes there were a few casualties. By eleven holes it seemed a little lonely out on the course with only the resident ducks for company. By the time we had completed thirteen holes even the ducks were looking bedraggled and the rain continued to fall.
At the end of the day, five groups managed to hang on to their clubs long enough to complete the round. They sloshed back to the clubhouse pleased to have Christmas Lunch, and a celebratory drink, to look forward to.
The team of Lorna Knott, Donna Hewat and Val Wilson won the day with 68 points. Jenny Brown, Angela Boadle and Sue Stephens were second with 66 soggy points and Robyn Moore, Cathy Ison and Linda Weatherill dripped over the line into third place with 60 points. Well done intrepid golfers!
We all enjoyed our Christmas Lunch and the presentation of Season’s Events and Eclectic prizes. Congratulations to Peta Merchant who won not only the Best 6 Stroke Rounds but also the Best 5 Stableford, Par and Putting Rounds. What an achievement, well done Peta! Sue Davies won the Most Reduced Handicap, losing 3.8 shots this year, Sue Stephens had the Most Gobblers and Linda Weatherill won the Most Birdies for the fourth year in a row!
The winners of the Eclectic Best Nett Score were Lyn Hatchman (Div 1), Robyn Moore (Div 2) and Marj Burns (Div 3).
Golf NSW Medals were presented to Sandra England(Div 1), Val Wilson (Div 2) and Nancye Massingham (Div 3). Well done to all our winners.
