The threat of rainy weather did not dampen the members’ enthusiasm to get back to golf competition for 2020. Conditions were indeed very favourable with a cloud cover which resulted in a comfortable temperature. With the course looking absolutely verdant and glorious, not a complaint could be heard despite the slowness of the fairways nor the slickness of the greens. One couldn’t help but enjoy the surroundings and appreciate what just a little rain can do to improve the course. How lucky we are!

The event today was a “Mystery Draw” for partners in a 4BBB Stableford. The field was divided into two as by handicap and the draw ensured that the lower handicap players were paired with higher handicap players in an attempt to make the competition as equal as possible.

The forecast showers did not eventuate so the golf was not impacted, however, some were a little rusty after not having had any practice since December last year. It seems that the break favoured some of us and the top scorers came in with impressive results.

Gloria Davis and Jill Downie combined their handicaps skillfully to record a fantastic 46 points on a count back. Snapping at their heels, Marj Burns and Di Pritchard were unlucky not to claim the top spot in scoring another very smart 46 points. Des Thornett and Donna put in a top performance to take out third position with a tidy 43 points.
