Sixty three ladies participated in the  18 Holes four Person Texas Stableford event at Nowra golf Club today. The aim of the event was to raise funds for the Shoalhaven Hospital Auxiliary, the members of which support the hospital by purchasing much needed equipment.

It was the most perfect day possible in terms of the weather for the Nowra members and all the visitors who came from Jamberoo, Callala, Catalina (Batemans Bay), Mollymook and the Grange. The beautiful sunny, warm day showed off our well presented course to great advantage and the visitors, some of whom have never previously experienced our course, found it to be very interesting and were absolutely delighted with the scenery. Many stated that they would love to visit again.

The format of the game is interesting in itself. All four team members tee off then choose the best drive on each hole. From this spot they all play out the hole with their individual stableford game. The scoring is an aggregate of the best three scores on each hole. An added interest was provided on the 18th hole where Danny and Ben Taylor drove the balls from the tee for the ladies for a gold coin donation raising $127 for the Hospital charity. The boys also kindly provided a bottle of wine as a prize for the lady whose ball was the longest drive on that hole. It was also a competition for Danny and Ben for their own prowess!

Indeed, our visitors were very successful with one of the three Mollymook teams of Kristine Gardner, Veronica Johnston, Mickey Thornhill and Dawn Makeham taking out overall honours with an impressive score of 139. The Nowra team of Robyn Moore, Nancye Massingham, Sue Davies and Val Wilson scuttled into second spot with 133 and the team from The Grange Tina Hamer, Carol Bailey, Janette Bessell and Michelle Peace were close behind in third place with 130 points.
