Enduring the frosty start to the competition was well worth it when we were treated to a still, clear, mild and sunny day which as always reminded us all of how lucky we are to be able to take in the delights that our beautiful course presents to us. It was music to the ears to hear the happy twittering of the rosellas, the raucus laughter of the majestic kookaburras and the lyrical lilt of the currawongs calling across the escarpment.

By all accounts the scores were fairly average with mid to late 70’s being the order of the day. However, the course is still very heavy in many parts following the drenching rain of last week. It seems by the forecast from the weather gurus that we will be in for more of a deluge in the next few days which will increase the challenge over the following weeks.

Sue Beazley snatched the winning spot from Angela Boadle in Division 1 with 77 nett on a count back. It was down to the last hole to decide the winner when Sue managed to sink a solid putt after Angela took an extra stroke to hole her ball.

In Division 2 Val Wilson put in steady game to win line honours. Val scored 74 nett which was above average for the day and Shirley Moore claimed the runner’s up trophy with 78 nett.

Di Pritchard was the Champion of the day by romping it in in Division 3 with a legendary effort to score 73 nett. Her teacher and coach, Jill Levi was obviously a steadying influence within the group which ensured Di maintained her concentration. This magnificent effort gave Di the best nett score for the round and the honour of the “Monthly Goblet” which is generously sponsored by Linda Trusler.

Donna Hewat also put in a creditable performance to claim second spot in Division 3 with 76 nett.
