Jack Frost arrived at the course this morning looking for a game today. He was told in no uncertain terms that firstly he was ineligible to play as it was a women’s competition and secondly he was blowing too much cold air. He was sent packing very quickly and the beautiful sunshine that followed gradually warmed us up. In fact it was down to short sleeves before too long as we battled it out in the Keno 2 Person Ambrose.

This event is scheduled by Golf NSW in three categories – Men’s, Women’s and Mixed games. The qualifiers in each category at club level are then eligible to play in the Regional Final which is to be held at Moss Vale or Mollymook in this area. The winners of the Regional Final advance to the State Final to be held at the Bonville Resort in December with all expenses paid.

It is a stipulation of the game that each player has to record six drives during the 18 holes and this can provide a bit of pressure if one is not having such a good day. However, it’s all part of the fun and the challenge and there were lots of laughs and chatter as the morning progressed.

The hot pair in the field today was Sandra England and Angela Boadle who combined extremely well to come out on top with a great  score of 81 off the stick and a nett 69.75. Both Sandra and Angela are strong, steady players and Sandra’s extensive competition experience was complimented by Angela’s tenacity and intrepid approach to the game. Proceedings became a little “messy” on the 17th tee when the “bluebird of happiness” decided to wish Angela well in the final stages of the game. It dropped a very long, well meaning message which landed not only on Angela’s head, shoulders and back but also on her clubs and buggy.

Di Pritchard and Linda Trusler put in a sterling effort to claim the runner’s up honours. It was solid concentration all the way around for them to achieve a score of 93 off the stick and a 75.5 nett result.

Jill Levi and Sue Hunter teamed up for the event today and they managed to scrape in to third position on a count back from the combination of Jenny Brown and Sue Beazley. Jill and Sue scored 88 scratch and 76.5 to Jenny’s and Sue’s 89 scratch and 76.5.

Ball winners were the team of Donna Hewat and Shirley Moore (77.25) and Patricia Austin and Margaret Jennings (78).

As Club winners, Sandra England and Angela Boadle are eligible to play in the Regional Final with Di Pritchard and Linda Trusler as the reserves.
