The ladies registered to play in the Stableford competition today were thankful for a clear fresh morning and to be able to complete the round devoid of the threat of rain, thunder and lightning that had been forecast.

The course looked stunning as always and everyone is now used to the heavy dewy conditions that prevail until the warmth of the sun does its job in drying everything off. Taking a bigger club than is usual to counter the lack of run and get the distance seems to work in the first few holes. It’s simple from there to achieve a reasonable score if the chipping and putting is accurate. A skilful short game will always stand you in good stead together with consistent concentration and a bit of “Lady Luck”.

Considering the heaviness out there today there were some great scores over the three divisions.

The most notable result was seen in Division 3 when Robyn Lenehan well and truly earned her stripes with a score of 38 points. What a wonderful result for Robyn who has been plodding along, getting very frustrated and totally deluded by the game of golf. After last week’s Medal round Robyn was giving it all away so congratulations for returning for another attempt – a fantastic achievement. As the saying goes – “never say never in golf”.

Donna Hewat put in another strong performance to claim the runner’s up spot in Division 3 with a very creditable 36 points.

Another great score for the winner of Division 2 was achieved by Patricia Austin. Her 34 points gave her the honours ahead of the consistent Lyn Hatton who managed 29 points.

Linda Trusler was the successful scorer in the Division 1 stakes. Her 31 points was enough to fend of the strength and skill of Robyn Moore who was the runner up with 31 points.

The event is generously sponsored by Patricia Austin. Come along in support and have fun. It should prove to be an interesting day.
