Despite the looming rain clouds 28 ladies ventured out for a much loved 4BBB today. Our trusty President Angela was armed and prepared with her “storm hooter” signal in case of imminent danger from lightning.
We were very thrilled to see our sponsor, Wendy Phillips out to witness the current form and although Wendy is still nursing a shoulder injury, she is hopeful of returning to play before the end of the year.
Although the course is still proving to be a challenge with the soggy conditions, the competition was keen and some very good scores resulted. It was most fortunate that the threatening nasty weather did not eventuate and all groups made it back into the clubhouse unscathed – no hooters required.
Sharyn Balzer was welcomed into the fold today for her inaugural attempt at a competition round. Sharyn is another graduate form the “Girls Friday” group which is ably coached and encouraged by Jill Levi.
Jill teamed up with Sharyn for the competition today and she would have been very proud of her protege in her first attempt. The pair came in with the top result of the day by scoring 44 points to easily clinch the honours.
Maree McLean continued her good form after a prestigious win in the Veterans’ Hen of the Walk final on Tuesday. She teamed up with her old mate Lyn Hatchman for today and they combined well to take out the second spot with 41 points to their credit.
Lyn Hatton showed excellent concentration in the final holes, scoring four consecutive three pointers. It was as if she was merely plucking them from mid air. Lyn was a great support for partner, Sue Hunter and they claimed the third spot with 40 points.
