The weather was very kind for the Super Six Matchplay event with the rain holding off after a few very wet days. Sixteen players who had qualified in the preliminary round last week set off in groups of four to contest the knockout round. After the first six holes, the two winners in each group then played off against each other to the 12th hole. The winner of that match met up with the winner from the group in front to contest the last six holes to determine the winner. As a result the two successful players in these two matches competed in a play off over three holes to determine the Match Play Champion. In the meantime, those who were eliminated over each six hole match continued to play a stableford competition in a play off for the Plate event together with those who didn’t qualify in the preliminary round.
